Approval

What is an Approval?

Approval is the process of bringing a vehicle into line with a Community type, in this case the European type. However, this process is not limited to a single entity. Some approvals require an approach to the DREAL, while others require joint procedures involving both the DREAL and UTAC.

Thanks to our experience, we have in-depth knowledge of the markets and are able to identify the simplest and most cost-effective approvals for our customers.

DREAL

The Direction régionale de l'Environnement, de l'Aménagement et du Logement (DREAL) is the central location for all administrative and preliminary procedures. A thorough inspection of the vehicle and verification of the documents are carried out there. A visit to the DREAL is compulsory when a vehicle is approved, and in our region it costs around €86.

UTAC

The Union Technique de l'Automobile, du Motocycle et du Cycle (UTAC) is the laboratory responsible for dealing with vehicles that do not comply with European standards, where the tests are carried out. Going through UTAC is the most complex stage in the approval process. It should be noted that this stage is not compulsory for all imports.
